So I came across this video on youtube about these illegal dog markets in Seoul, Korea. As a dog owner, watching this video sickens and saddens me. It’s a shame how those dogs are treated and slaughtered. However, I feel the same way about any animal that is abused and/or tortured for human consumption, sport, or for our own amusement. As human beings we often turn a blind eye to this kind of stuff unless it is up in our face. And even then some of us are too cowardly or lack any type of sensitivity to it. How can some of us be so fuckin cold and heartless? We joyfully parade ourselves past the meat counter at the local market without even a second thought about the source of those dead carcasses.  I myself am guilty of the same hypocrisy.  I am a meat eater and have enjoyed eating meat ever since I can remember.  I am not, however, a sadist.  I don’t believe that eating meat is wrong but torturing innocent creatures is.  I try my best to stay away from food that is not slaughtered in a humane way.  I buy my meat from the organic market and avoid fast food establishments.  I know that it’s not going to change anything but at least I won’t have it on my conscience.  I guess what I’m trying to say is I don’t have a problem with Korean people eating dogs.  Lets face it, it would be hypocritical for me to say as I chomp down on a cheeseburger.  But why do we have to treat animals the way we do?

All over the media lately all you hear is about Michael Vick and the illegal dog fighting ring that he was a part of. The way he brutally killed the dogs after the fight is appalling and insensitive.    Every channel you turn to you see people condemning him.  But these are the same people that patronize places such as McDonalds and KFC.  These are the same people that wear makeup and fur and support industries that profit off of the suffering of animals.  All I’m saying is that the next time you are so quick to condemn someone for their dirty laundry, check our own closet first.  Oh yeah and:
