Clinton, Obama, or Edwards - A Question Of Race???
Okay here’s my take. First of all, let me point out that I’m unequivocally a supporter of Barack Obama and here’s why.
First, lets take politics out of the equation. It has been proven time and time again that a politician will say or do anything to get your vote and do the exact opposite afterwards. So as far as politics go I don’t trust any of the candidates as far as I can throw them. I’m looking at this strictly from a personality, gender, and race aspect. I grew up in a place where people are very honest about their feelings and motives, which is why living in “politically correct” Seattle is such a culture shock to me. On the East Coast people say it like they feel it and if you don’t like it then tough shit. That being said, yes the fact that Barack Obama is black contributes to my decision to support him. Now, it’s not just the fact that he’s black. If he was black and a worse idiot than GW I wouldn’t support him. But I think it’s safe to say that he’s not. The fact that he’s black brings to the table an entirely different perspective and experience all within itself. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that this country needs a fresh set of eyes. We have been dragged into a pre-emptive war and our economy is on a rapid decline. What we don’t need is more of the same, which is exactly what we’ll get if we elect Hillary Clinton.
If we elect Hillary we’ll get a woman and it’s no secret that women make decisions based on emotion. Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve seen the video clip of Mrs. Clinton crying on TV in a pathetic attempt to get votes because she was losing in the polls of the New Hampshire primary. Is that the type of strength we need to lead this country? I think not. Not only that but she’s just as inexperienced as the other 2. I really don’t think the fact that you were fucking the president qualifies as experience. If that’s the case, lets just elect Monica Lewinsky.
With John Edwards we’ll get another white male. Now I have nothing against Mr. Edwards. As a matter of fact I like him. I like his passion, his energy, and his anger when it comes to the issues. But once again, it’s more of the same. I mean, why should there be a monopoly on the presidency controlled by white men. I have nothing against white men but damn, can a brotha get a turn? Seriously, one black man is not going to fuck things up any worse than George W has for the last 8 years. I think Edwards would make an excellent Vice President and I hope Obama will run with him after he wins the democratic candidacy.
So is my support for Obama based on race? Partially, yes. I think that for once in the history of this country we need a minority president. Someone who can represent definitive change. I think Mr. Obama’s agenda of bringing everyone together is one that can begin to move us forward against the racism and bigotry that has torn this country apart for decades. I think his presidency will set a new precedence in this country and show the world that we are willing to change. Maybe we can get other countries to like us again, LOL.
